Meet Susanna
Ledesma-Woody
Susanna Ledesma Woody is a proud central Texan, a devoted mother of three, a respected public servant, and a passionate advocate for equity and opportunity.

For over a decade, Susanna has been deeply rooted in public service—as a Del Valle ISD Trustee, community coalition president, political organizer, and advocate for Southeast Travis County. With lived experience and a strong voice for justice, she knows what it takes to work alongside the community and deliver real solutions—because she’s lived the challenges of being from an overlooked neighborhood.
Rooted in Resilience

Susanna Ledesma Woody was born in Austin, Texas, and raised near the Travis and Bastrop County lines in a working-class family of eight. Her mother was a nurse’s aide and her father worked in construction. Growing up in a trailer with limited access to electricity and running water, Susanna learned early what resilience looks like—and how powerful community can be when resources are scarce.
“There were times growing up we didn’t have running water or electricity. We had to carry buckets of water from a neighbor’s house for cooking and bathing. Winter Storm Uri reminded me of when we used the oven to heat our home.”
These early experiences lit a fire in Susanna to fight for the basics—housing, water, education—as human rights. Her commitment to service and advocacy is rooted in her lived experience and her belief that no one in Travis County should go without the resources they need to live with dignity.

Susanna is a longtime resident of Southeast Travis County, where she and her husband Roy have raised their three children. She has spent her professional life working at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), where she has built a successful career in project management, bringing leadership, collaboration, and innovative thinking to complex challenges. These skills have directly informed her advocacy, helping her balance family, work, and public service.

Under her leadership, DVCC has advocated for better infrastructure, reliable transit, equitable planning, and COVID-19 vaccine access during the height of the pandemic.

“With the rapid growth in Precinct 4, we must be smart about development and intentional about
equity. I will continue pushing for reliable county services and infrastructure that serves everyone.”

Fighting For Us
A lifelong Democrat, Susanna has been politically active since she cast her first vote at 18. She has served as a state delegate for the Texas Democratic Party since 2016 and served on both the State Rules Committee (2018) and the Presidential Preference Recommendation Committee (2020) for Senate District 14. She has block-walked, organized, and campaigned for local Democratic candidates alongside grassroots organizations such as Our Revolution and DSA.
Her experience in politics, public education, and community organizing has sharpened her focus on building people-powered movements—not just to win elections, but to deliver change.

Susanna Ledesma Woody was the only elected official in Travis County to vote against Tesla’s tax incentive deal. While others stayed silent or stood with corporate interests, Susanna stood with working families.

We need more elected officials who aren’t afraid to say no to Elon Musk and corporate handouts—and who will fight for transparency, accountability, and investments that truly benefit our communities.

This will be Susanna’s third time running for Travis County Commissioner—and she’s leaning all the way in with a smile and a mission.

“They say third time’s the charm, and I believe it. I’ve never been more ready, more grounded, or
more determined to bring real equity to Precinct 4.”

Susanna’s campaign for County Commissioner is about ensuring the needs of working families, communities of color, and underrepresented neighborhoods are no longer left behind. She brings the same spirit she’s carried since childhood: fight for those who can’t fight for themselves—and never forget where you came from.

“No one should grow up without basic human resources. That’s why I’m running—to make sure every
part of Travis County is seen, heard, and served.”
